About
As of 2026, it's 59 years old.
The Chevrolet C/K is American truck royalty, and its most beloved era is the one fans simply call the 'Square-Body.' Built from 1973 to 1987, these boxy, broad-shouldered haulers defined what a pickup looked like for a generation — straight lines, big chrome grilles, and a stance that said 'load me up and point me at the horizon.'
The naming was beautifully logical: 'C' meant rear-wheel drive, 'K' meant four-wheel drive, and the 10/20/30 numbers told you whether you were hauling half a ton, three-quarters, or a full ton. Whatever the job, there was a C/K shaped exactly for it.
Under those flat hoods sat the workhorses of America — small-block and big-block V8s like the legendary 350, plus thrifty inline-sixes, all built to run forever and be fixed in a driveway with a socket set and stubbornness. They towed boats, hauled hay, and shuttled Little League teams for decades.
Tough, simple, and endlessly customizable, the Square-Body became a restoration-scene darling and a permanent fixture of American roads. Before the C/K, the second-gen 1967 trucks set the template; the Square-Body just chiseled it into granite.
