Dookie dragged punk out of the underground and onto MTV in 1994, with Green Day delivering snotty, hyper-catchy two-minute anthems about boredom, anxiety, and (memorably) self-pleasure. 'Longview,' 'Basket Case,' and 'When I Come Around' were everywhere, and a generation of kids picked up guitars because of it.
