About
As of 2026, it's 30 years old.
Crash Bandicoot was Sony's unofficial mascot — a genetically enhanced marsupial with a manic grin and a vendetta — who spent the late '90s being the PlayStation's answer to Mario and Sonic. His whole personality is spinning, jumping, and breaking every crate in sight, which is, frankly, all a mascot really needs.
Launched in 1996, its trick was making 3D feel like a 2D platformer by mostly running INTO the screen, dodging boulders in a way that felt brand new.
Goofy, charming, and crate-obsessed, Crash is the bandicoot who gave the PlayStation a face and a generation a reason to keep yelling at a runaway boulder.
